What Is Nickel Alloy 600?

Nickel 600 is also known as Inconel alloy 600. This nickel-chromium alloy offers excellent performance for high-temperature and high-pressure applications in seawater, open-air, acidic, and alkaline environments.

Its unique properties come from a chemical composition of at least 72% nickel-cobalt, 14-17% chromium, 6-10% iron, and smaller percentages of manganese, silicon, carbon, copper, and sulfur. This combination enhances corrosion and temperature resistance.

What Are the Advantages of Nickel 600 for Corrosion Resistance?

Nickel alloy 600 provides superior corrosion resistance in extreme manufacturing conditions, outperforming both stainless steel and cupronickel metals. This high-performance alloy is ideal in environments with:

How Does Nickel 600 Perform in High-Temperature Environments?

One of the main advantages of nickel-chromium alloys compared to nickel-copper alloys for petrochemical manufacturing is their enhanced temperature resistance characteristics. Nickel 600 has a melting range of 2,470 to 2,575 degrees Fahrenheit.

This alloy performs well even at temperatures exceeding 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. It’s also effective for cryogenic environments of -250 degrees. Cold-worked nickel 600 can reach a tensile strength of up to 220,000 psi.
