Nickel C-276 Supplier

Nickel alloy C-276 is one of the most versatile corrosion-resistant alloys available, capable of withstanding sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, and many other caustic solutions. Put simply, when other metals fail, using alloy C-276 is like calling in the big guns. As a trusted nickel alloy supplier, we provide tight-tolerance nickel C-276 products to demanding specifications.

What Is Nickel C-276?

Alloy C-276 is a nickel-chromium-molybdenum alloy with exceptionally low carbon content. Its chemical composition consists primarily of nickel (balance), at least 15% molybdenum, 14.5% chromium, 4% iron, 3% tungsten, up to 2.5% cobalt, and up to 0.35% vanadium. This alloy offers excellent resistance against oxidization, pitting, carbide precipitation, and stress corrosion cracking.

How Can a Nickel Alloy Supplier Help You Find the Right Nickel C-276 Specs?

High-performance alloys such as nickel C-276 have several variants with subtle changes to chemical composition. By altering the balance of chromium and molybdenum or by adding copper, it’s possible to make the nickel alloy more resistant to oxidization or reducing chemicals. That way, your organization gets optimal performance for each application, enhancing production and reducing downtime.

Which Industries Use Nickel Alloy C-276?

Alloy C-276 primarily appears in environments where equipment constantly comes into contact with caustic chemicals (especially acids), such as:

  • Chemical processing
  • Natural gas and oil refining
  • Waste treatment (municipal and industrial)
  • Paper production
  • Pollution control

These industrial operations frequently work with extremely aggressive substances, which is why a specialized alloy is necessary instead of a general-purpose stainless steel or nickel product.

What Applications Are a Good Fit for Nickel C-276?

Nickel C-276 sheets provide wide-ranging surface protection against acidic and corrosive environments. Some applications include:

  • Stack liners
  • Reaction vessels
  • Evaporators and gas reheaters
  • Ducts, transfer pipes
  • Filters and scrubbers

Another common use of alloy C-276 is to reinforce other metals for localized corrosion resistance in areas that face aggressive attack, such as seawater corrosion in crevices.

What Are the Benefits of Alloy C-276 for Corrosion Resistance and Temperature Stability?

While other nickel alloys offer good corrosion protection against many chemical compounds, nickel alloy C-276 can stand up to virtually all corrosive chemicals, including:

  • Hydrochloric, sulfuric, formic, and acetic acids
  • Phosphoric acid (maximum 65% concentration)
  • Caustic solvents
  • Chlorides and chloride gas
  • Chlorine and hypochlorite solutions

The downside is that C-276 has a lower temperature stability range in oxidizing environments such as boiling acids.
