Nickel 800/800H/800HT Supplier

Nickel 800, 800H, and 800HT grades are superalloys with exceptional tensile strength and corrosion resistance characteristics at high temperatures. At Arbor/Metals Inc., we’re a leading nickel alloy supplier with a wide range of 800/800H/800HT options:

  • Coils
  • Circles and rings
  • Plates
  • Pillars and round bars
  • Sheets

Any manufacturer that works with products at extreme operating temperatures should seriously consider investing in these high-performance metal alloys.

What Is the Chemical Composition of Grade 800 Nickel Alloys?

Nickel alloy 800/800H/800HT variants are nearly identical in chemical composition. The differences are in the levels of certain materials, especially carbon.

Nickel Alloy 800

Alloy 800 contains 30% to 35% nickel, 19% to 23% chromium, and at least 39.5% iron. Trace amounts of aluminum and titanium must reach thresholds of 0.15% to 0.60% each. Carbon content should be 0.10% or lower.

Nickel Alloy 800H

Alloy 800H meets the same specifications as alloy 800, but it has a stricter carbon content control: between 0.05% and 0.10%. This alloy is heat-treated for a coarse grain of ASTM 5 or lower.

Nickel Alloy 800HT

Alloy 800HT meets the same specifications as 800H but contains more aluminum and titanium. Instead of 0.15%, alloy 800HT must have at least 0.25%. Combined titanium and aluminum must be 0.85% to 1.20%.

With each improvement, the alloys receive greater resistance to ruptures and creep at high temperatures.

Which Industries and Applications Benefit From Nickel Alloy 800, 800H, and 800HT?

The specialized nature of nickel 800 alloys makes them useful in demanding applications with long-term high-temperature environments:

  • Furnace components
  • Sheathing for heating elements
  • Cracking tubes and flanges
  • Chemical reactors and catalyst tubing
  • Manifold headers and pigtails
  • Retorts

These alloys are so resistant to extreme heat stresses that they’re even used in equipment for heat treating other metals.

As a longtime nickel alloy supplier, we’ve provided nickel 800 grades for chemical makers, oil and gas refineries, food processing businesses, and many other manufacturing industries.

Why Are 800-Series Nickel Alloys Valuable?

Nickel alloy grades 800, 800H, and 800HT offer excellent mechanical properties at high temperatures. They can safely resist temperatures over 1,100 degrees Fahrenheit for extended periods while delivering significant resistance to:

  • Creep and deformation
  • Carburization
  • Stress corrosion cracking and rupture
  • Oxidization
  • Sigma phase precipitation embrittlement

These high-performance alloys resist corrosion from seawater, brackish water, hydrocarbons, and caustic chemicals.
