Stainless Steel 430

Chromium-nickel stainless steel 430 is popular for applications that require corrosion resistance, good formability, durability, and low cost. Discover more from one of the leading 430 stainless steel manufacturers and suppliers, Arbor Metals.

430 Stainless Steel Composition

430 stainless steel is ferritic and nonhardenable and has the following chemical makeup:

  • Chromium: 16% to 18%
  • Manganese:00%
  • Silicon:00%
  • Nickel:75%
  • Carbon:12%
  • Phosphorous:04%
  • Sulfur:03%

Stainless steel 430 plate has a tensile strength of 65 ksi, a yield strength of 30 ksi, an elongation of 22%, and a hardness of no more than 89 HRB. Call us if you need additional specifications or dimensions for any of our stainless steel 430 products.

430 Stainless Steel Alloy Benefits

Alloy 430 stainless steel properties offer the following benefits that make it a versatile choice for many uses:

  • Cost-effectiveness: Efficient production, fewer costly alloying elements
  • Heat resistance: Withstands intermittent use temperatures up to 870 C and continuous use temperatures up to 815 C
  • Magnetic properties: Magnetic due to its ferritic microstructure
  • Durability: Maintains strength at high temperatures and less subject to stress deformation
  • Corrosion resistance: Performs well against atmospheric corrosion, water, and some chemicals, especially nitric acid

430 stainless steel alloy does have limitations, so work with your 430 stainless steel manufacturers to determine its suitability for your application.
